Well, I didn't realise it had been a hot minute. How was your Summer all things considered?
For me, I took to exploring Bray Studios. Whilst there I discovered a vault hidden by an overgrown tangle of weeds. It was sealed shut but luckily I had the keys and combination which had been sent via the post from an anonymous sender. As the door squealed open, the air was surprisingly clear and the lights were still running fine. But what I found inside, on the very first shelf shook me to the core.
That's right. My second full collection The Poet From The Black Lagoon.
Consider this a love letter to the horror community and to horror culture. With inspiration from the Universal Monsters and Hammer Horror, to the likes of Poltergeist and the Slashers of the 80's. As well as influence from bands such as Black Sabbath, The Misfits and Mercyful Fate.
Obviously COVID has meant that "normal" performance isn't going to be back for a little while, However, expect me to pop-up on a few podcasts and livestreams over these nect few weeks. You can keep up to date over on Twitter and Instagram @SimonWiddopPoet.
The cover design and internal illustrations were crafted by the amazing Melody Clark and the edge-cutting editing by Richard Daniels.
The Poet From The Black Lagoon is set for release on the 9th October 2020 and is available for pre-order from Plastic Brain Press.
